JJ Curran using a Maeda MC-285 mini crawler hoisted prefabricated wall panels from the ground to floors 4 and 5 of a new Beaumont Hospital facility in Royal Oak, MI. The crane, which weighs 4,300 lbs. was hoisted to the 6th floor using a 50-ton Grove Rough Terrain crane. The crane erected 16 wall panels that each weigh 2,500 lbs. The crane was necessary as there was no room on the west side of the building for a traditional mobile crane due to the close proximity of power lines. The crane was configured with 13 ft of boom, achieving a 10 ft radius with 2,630 lbs. capacity.
