JJ Curran Crane Company and AK Steel Recognized For Project Safety by Industry Group
(Detroit, MI) – JJ Curran Crane and AK Steel have received a Project Safety Award from the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, an international organization comprised of more than 1,400 members from 46 nations.
The SC&RA Project Safety Award is given to member companies whose project has had zero recordable injuries or illnesses with a minimum of 1,500 onsite man hours.

JJ Curran’s work with AK Steel as part of the 2019 AK Steel Primary Outage Project is an example of how proper planning and a vibrant safety culture pave the way to complete a large-scale project with zero recordable injuries. As a result of our safety program, skilled employees, and collaborative work with AK Steel, we were able to complete the project consisting of 7,131 hours of labor without incident.
Firms across the United States and around the world submit dozens of entries to the SC&RA Awards competition each year. The Awards program recognizes worldwide excellence in the crane, rigging and specialized transportation industry.
