Founder & Management
John J. Curran, "J.J.", as he was known, served in the Marine Corp during World War II, and finished his education at Michigan State College. He married his wife Jacquelyn in 1949 and raised 5 children. In 1950, JJ started the Dearborn Excavating Company working as an earth moving contractor. Gradually cranes became his livelihood and eventually the JJ Curran Crane Company was formed in the 1960's. In his earlier years, JJ was an avid pilot, sportsman, and hunter. Eveventually cars, boating and golf were his passions.
Larry Curran is the President of JJ Curran Crane Company and Curran Lifting Systems, and is Co-Owner of Fleet Cost & Care. He is JJ and Jacquelyn's oldest child. Larry and his wife Linda have three adult children. Larry is a graduate of Michigan State University where he was a member of the hockey team. Larry joined JJ Curran Crane as a full time employee in 1974, working in all divisions of the company, allowing him better insight to the total operation of the crane business. He is active with Specialized Carriers and Riggers Association, and has served on the Board of Directors. Larry's activities in the community include serving as President of Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club and Boynestadt Condominium Association.
Jeff Curran is Vice President of JJ Curran Crane Company and Curran Lifting Systems, and is Co-Owner of Fleet Cost & Care. He is JJ and Jacquelyn's fourth child, their only other son. Jeff is the father of two adult children. He attended Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the golf team. Jeff worked in the shop area of the company during high school and college and joined the office staff upon his graduation in 1981. Today, Jeff primarily runs the day to day operations of Fleet Cost & Care. He is an active member of Specialized Carriers and Riggers Association, enjoys golfing, cycling and hockey. |
